Sports Premium
P.E Sports Premium Champion: Miss R Cutforth
What is Sports Premium?
In April 2013, the Government introduced additional funding for all state-maintained schools to enhance the delivery, opportunity, and availability of sport and physical education (PE). This funding, known as the Sports Premium, must be spent on improving provision for PE and sport. Schools have the flexibility to decide how best to use the funding to make the greatest impact for their pupils.
Provision at Birchwood Junior School
At Birchwood Junior School, we recognise the vital role that PE and sport play in the development of our pupils. A broad and engaging PE curriculum, combined with a variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs, provides opportunities for all children to enjoy and achieve in sport.
Our aim is to support the health, wellbeing, and fitness of every pupil, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of physical activity.
We make effective use of the Sports Premium funding to:
-
Extend the range of sporting opportunities available to pupils.
-
Improve the quality of teaching and learning in PE.
-
Promote active and healthy lifestyles.
-
Increase participation in extracurricular clubs and competitive sport.
