Welcome to Birchwood Junior School and to our website. We are a busy, but friendly school with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing regular updated information for both children and parents/carers. We work closely with Woodlands Infant and Nursery School and The Lancaster School with whom we share our headteacher.
We are all very proud of our school, our children and our successes. We believe that this school is special and the relationships we develop with our children and our families enable us to create a friendly, inclusive, caring and supportive atmosphere.
From February 2016 Report:
Pupils’ personal development and welfare are outstanding. The excellent care and support helps the most vulnerable pupils and those with additional needs to settle and make good progress.
Pupils say that they feel very safe in school and know about being safe on the internet from their e-safety discussions. ‘Bikeability’ gives them heightened road safety skills and pupils speak with governors about other health and safety aspects.
The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is outstanding.

The Birchwood Federation
The Birchwood Federation are three schools working together in the Birchwood Community sharing expertise, experience and resources with the aim of providing a first class education for our children. At the same time as working collaboratively, we also retain the advantages of being individual and friendly.
We work closely together and share our Governing Body and some key members of staff including our Executive Headteacher.
